Find when workspace last used?

Given the news that classic workspaces are out the door, and new workspaces are coming my organization was looking to clean up things.

Currently we have a number of classic workspaces that we want to proactively clean up.

But one thing we wanted to check was "when was a workspace last used?"

As we wanted to see if a workspace was for example only opened once but never used again - Ideally we want to delete these.

Where or how can I find when a workspace was last used?

We are doing this by looking at the "report viewed" in audit logs. The issue is that the audit logs only show last 90 days data, so at most you will know that no report has been viewed in that workpace in the last 90 days. We have been collecting audit data for a couple of years now, so we have the data to check if any report view in the last 2 years has the workspace name.

How about using get user activity api to download all the logs? just a bit of powershell looping is required.

Otherwise Office 365 admin can export power bi activity logs and you can easily create a excel pivot table to get max date per workspace

Hi @rodneyc8063 

You will have to use the View Usage Report independently in each workspace to monitor the usage on each.

So, when you click View Usage Report in any of the Dashboards in a workspace, you can then Edit this Usage Report online and include all the Dashboards in the same workspace in the filtering criteria, so you can see the usage accross all the space. This will have to be done independently accross workspaces to monitor usage accross.
