Experiencing Time Out error: “The operation has timed out” - connection to Salesforce objects

Hi guys, I have been exploring Power BI on my own for the last 6 month and was able solve many obstacles but not this one. Maybe you can help me or at least guide me into right direction.

I was able to connect Salesforce and load large data sets from there (13 mln rows, 4 columns of different data types, all unnecessary data was excluded). My profile is Pro, workspace is Premium.

But in Power BI service my report has been experiencing Time Out error: “The operation has timed out”. Though I was able to successfully refresh it for a few times, there was no successful refreshes recently.

Message that I get:

An error occurred while processing the data in the dataset.

Refresh failed:

Distrubution in PeTra - test online has failed to refresh.

Failure details: The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error. This is usually a transient issue. If you try again later and still see this message, contact support.

DataSource.Error: <pii>The operation has timed out</pii>. <pii>https://petra.my.salesforce.com/services/data/v48.0/query?q=SELECT%20ivybase__Available__c%2Civybase...</pii>. ;The operation has timed out. The exception was raised by the IDataReader interface. Please review the error message and provider documentation for further information and corrective action. Table: Appended Stock tracking.

It's not that the data refresh has timed out, your SFDC session token has expired before the refresh could be completed.

Power BI Service has a 600 minute timeout for scheduled refreshes.  Ask your SFDC admin if they can extend the session token lifetime to match this.

Thank you! Extending token lifetime session helped me!

Though the procedure of approving of that is very difficult in my company due to necessary bureaucracy related to data security.

Sorry for late response( it was due to russia invading my country(

@lbendlin

I am having the same issue, but mine is timing out after only 5 minutes.  I created the dataflow to pull in a Salesforce object.  It was refreshing but then it stopped.  I tried hitting refresh today, but it failed again.  When I opened the dataflow & then resaved it, it refreshed.  Any ideas?

Talk to your SFDC admins, tell them to stop messing with the session parameters.
