Error when refreshing data in Services when using DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and AAS

Hi

I get the following error when refreshing data in Services, even though I enter the credentials:

"your data source cant be refreshed because the credentials are invalid. Please update your credentials and try again"

Does anyone know why I get the error and how I can refresh the data succesfully?

thank you

Hi @Anonymous

You can refer the accepted solution in this issue Your data source can't be refreshed because the credentials are invalid and check your configuration.  In short, add all data sources to Gateway, make sure the gateway is online and the credentials are correct.

Hi 🙂

Thank you for the reply. I am not able to add a gateway: It says: "You dont need a gateway for this dataset because all sources are in the cloud"

I tried to make a sample report where I did the same steps as in my report (the one that doesnt want to refresh in Services): I changed the Analysis services connection to direct query and added a source from Sharepoint. The sample report didnt have any issues with refreshing in Services.

So i am not sure what is wrong with my report. Credentials and everything are the same... I tried to clear the permissions, delete the sources and add the sources again in my report - but it still gives me the same error message when refreshing in Services. I dont see another way out now than creating a new report and copy and paste all measures and visualisations from my old one.

Any idea what could be the issue?

Hi @Anonymous

You can check your setting on Dateset Security of Tenant Settings in Admin portal. But I'm not sure whether it is caused by it.
