I have a 64-bit On-Premise Gateway that can connect to an Oracle database, but then throws an error.
The error it throws is "The provider being used is deprecated: 'System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.'. Please visit https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=272376 to install the official provider."
I've been to that site, installed the 64-bit Oracle provider from https://www.oracle.com/database/technologies/odac-downloads.html (64-bit ODAC 12.2c Release 1 (12.2.0.1.1) for Windows x64) and have verified that I can connect and query from the Gateway server to the Oracle database using SQL Plus. I also moved the oraons.dll file from 12.2.0\client_1 to 12.2.0\client_1\bin as suggested in that Microsoft link above.
I've verified that the 12.2.0 Oracle client is the only Oracle client on the Gateway server. What's frustrating is I get a Connection Successful message, and then right underneath is the error message saying the client is deprecated.
The Desktop version connects fine, just having issues with the Gateway server. I've also made sure that firewall rules are set up correctly by checking the connection to Oracle database using sqlplus from Gateway server.
Any ideas?
Thank you.
