Enterprise Gateway

I have a report I'm trying to move from a personal gateway to an enterprise. I have data from an excel spreadhseet as one of my data sources but I cannot connect to it for some reason. I went directly into my PBI report to get the file path and copy and pasted it:

My excel spreadhseet is sitting on my desktop. Do I need to move the spreadsheet to the server as well so it can find the file?

Hi @Anonymous,

It seems the file path is wrong.

1. The file path locates in the local computer. So the file and gateway should be in the same computer.

2. Please check the file path. The computer nowadays can be used by many people. There could be more than one desktop. Enterprise Gateway.png

Hi there

If you installed the Gateway on another PC or server then it will not be able to find your Desktop location because it is on another physical PC.

What I would suggest is to store the file in a central location, that both your PC and the Gateway Server can access.

As you suggested you could move the file to the server and put it in a folder such as C:\PowerBIFiles\All SUrvey Data.xlsx

Then create the data source in the Manage Gateways in the Power BI Service.
