Enterprise Gateway and data merge

hi there,

just a quick question. At my company, we are planning to use the Enteprise Gateway to connect to our SQL Server Database. We are wondering if you could also upload some data (Excel file) on the Service cloud and blend them in a dashboard ?

Is it possible ?

Thanks in advance

In Power BI Dashboard:Report and Dashboard: Dataset are both 1:1..N. One dashboard may have visuals from one or many reports and from one or many datasets.

Report: Dashboard is 1:1..N and Report: Dataset is 1:1. One report may be used as a source for one or many dashboards, but may itself only have data from a single dataset.

Thanks a lot. I did not know that.

I will discuss with my colleagues tomorrow.

So the answer is no and this is a problem.

To blend data, we need to do it with Power BI Desktop and publish the data on the cloud service - as if it is only one data source. Is that right ?

Thanks again

@kdelmotey, I am confused now. In your original post you asked if a dashboard could have data from these different sources. The answer is yes. Dashboard: Dataset is 1:1..N. A dashboard may have data sourced from one or many datasets.

sorry for the confusion. When i say "blend" i meant within the same visualization.

From what you say, this is not possible. Am i right ?

This is correct. If you expect to put this data into a single report or into a single visual, then it all must exist in a single dataset.

Can you add the second set of data to your SQL Server so that it can be included as part of the DirectQuery connection?

Thanks.

Yes, we will think about it.
