Enable SSO for Power BI app URL

Our Power BI setup is on the MS cloud platform. End-users use AD authentication to access the APP Url.

Now we got a requirement to integrated these APP URLs into OKTA.

This would require enabling SSO on the app URL and configure a trust with OKTA.

Please guide on how to establish this setup.

@Anonymous I think this would be better asked on an OKTA forum.

Before reaching OKTA, is it possible to enable SSO for the Power BI app URL?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Setting up SSO on the gateways is documented here:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-gateway-sso-overview#:~:text=When%20you%20configure%20SSO%20for%20the%20data%20source%2C,they%20have%20permissions%20in%20the%20underlying%20data%20source.

Otherwise, as @Greg_Deckler suggested, contact OKTA.

I would appreciate Kudos if my response was helpful. I would also appreciate it if you would Mark this As a Solution if it solved the problem. Thanks!

Hello Collin,

I want to setup SSO on the Power BI app URL, not with the data source.

Currently, when we click the URL, the login screen will appear where we need to enter the credentials. By enabling SSO, login would be seamless and won't have to enter the credentials.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Yes, there are ways to do this - if you are using Azure or Kerberos or
