Embedding Power BI in Share Point Online

Hi!

Is it possible to filter Power BI dataset with filters from SharePoint Online?

We have Power BI data set containing statistics of all our projects and now we want to embedd this report in SharePoint Online and get the report filtered by the specific project (based on which SP page is open). Any ideas if and how this can be done?

P.S. We are trying to use Power BI PRO publish to sharepoint option for this.

With the new Power BI report web part for SharePoint Online, you can easily embed interactive Power BI reports but not Power BI datasets in SharePoint Online pages.

I'm not sure if I understand your needs accurately. Are you trying to restrict data access for given users?

You cannot filter datasets in SharePoint Online ,but you can add Row Level Security in Power BI report before embedding it in SharePoint Online to meet your needs.

After setting up RLS, access for given users will see different content according to the permissions you set, and other users outside of RLS can access the report, but they can't see all the data.

Remember not to give the user build permission of the dataset or edit permission of the report, otherwise RLS won't work.
