Does incremental refresh work equally well with all data import methods?

Hello everyone,

I work at a small startup company where I develop a wide range of reports for our customers. I have been using several different ways of acquiring data for the reports; Json strings to API, SQL scripts, and direct connection to our Azure SQL database.

Now I am wondering if the newly introduced incremental refresh function works equally well with all these different types of data import methods, or if there is one preferrable way to do it?

Especially, does incremental refresh work if all data is imported with SQL?

Cheers,

Michael

Limitations
Currently, for composite models, incremental refresh is supported for SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, SQL Data Warehouse, Oracle, and Teradata data sources only.

@Greg_Deckler Thank you, that clarifies a few things.

But just to be completely sure I don't misunderstand you:

If I log into our azure sql database and get data via a "source" SQL query in the query editor, will incremental refresh work too?

That is my understanding, yes.
