When using secure embedding to embed a power bi report in a web page over the power bi service (User Owns Data). Do I have to give my users access to the workspace I publish the embedded report to?
I am also looking into this solution: https://github.com/PowerBiDevCamp/SalesforceUserOwnsDataEmbedding
for embedding the report with a Single Page Application to refresh the tokens automatically.
Do I have to add my users to the workspace as viewers in this second solution?
I don't want to give them access over the power bi portal. I only want to show them the report over the embedded web page (as iframe).
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Cheers Kev

@Anonymous No, you shouldn't have to add users as viewers to the workspace for secure embedding. That should be taken care of when you create the secure embed link you specify who it is good for.

I don't think that's the case with user owns data embeddings (for organizational uses), see this link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-embed-secure
The Embed option doesn't automatically permit users to view the report. View permissions are set in the Power BI service.
In the Power BI service, you can share embedded reports with users requiring access. If you're using a Microsoft 365 Group, you can list the user as a workspace member. For more information, see how to manage your workspace in Power BI and Microsoft 365.
Is there any (legal) way of using app owns data with reports for our organisation (internal use)? Or how do you manage the users correctly. I don't think we have microsoft 365 groups.
