Hi!
I have to share some reports/dashboards to other people and i have a little problem with the Analyze in Excel option. I have disabled using permissions for the users as read (with that the people can click in analyze in excel) and for security i have hidden the datasets in destopk in porder if they can download the excel they will see nothing.
But the problem is that the can see "analyze in excel" in the PowerBI app and this is the problem because I'm receiving a lot of questions about "why can't donlowad the analyze in excel? i want it" and this is something that i dont want to share and i'm asking if exists any posibility to remove the bottom "analyze in excel"
thanks a lot!
@dobregon Have you disabled the "Export Data" feature in tenant settings? That controls Analyze in Excel and you wouldn't have to do the multi-step process to stop that. I don't know if it removes the button, but I would try that.
thanks for your reply @Seth_C_Bauer
the problem using disabled "export data" is that the people in the powerBI app can't download the info (table) from a visual and this is something that i want.
I don't want to have the possibility that the people can download the analyse in excel becasue this excel is a completely database of my data and this a completely wrong decission. I have solved this adding the people, that can read my report but outside of my organization (people that i dont want that can have my database), in the app as a reader (so they can click in analyze in excel button but nothing will be downloaded) and hidden all of my datasets in the desktop (for security).
The problem, and it is a little bit absurd is when the people can see "Analyze in excel" and I blocked them the acces so the people always say "ey, i want to have excel". so if there is an option to remove the bottom, my live will be more easy
@dobregon Ah, I understand the use case now. I would doubt they would consider this a bug, your best bet would be to submit an idea on ideas.powerbi.com
Or, jump on one. Something like this -> https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/20487199-disable-analyze-in-excel...
Thanks @Seth_C_Bauer . It's a pity to hear that.
I will create the Idea.
Thanks for your replies!
