Disable Power BI column sort in a published report

I have a published report and i need to disable the ability to sort by columns.  I create text box for each column heading and placed them over the table column names.  That hides sort until you click on the scroll bar and then sort ability is brought back to the front?  There has to be a better way

Hey @Anonymous ,

there is no better way, because the ability to sort by column is one of the fundamental capabilities of the table visual.

What you can try is creating a group of the underlying visual and all the textboxes, maybe consider to use a single shape instead. Here you will find an article on how to create a group of visuals: Use grouping in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
This article describes how to configure the property "maintain layer order" of individual viusals.

You have to be aware of the "Focus mode" feature that is focusing on the selected visual, you can toggle this feature to off in the icons card of the Header icons section under General in the formatting properties of the table visual.

Hopefully, this provides what you are looking for.

Regards,

Tom
