1.Is schedule refresh is really requied for SAP HANA data source connected through Direct Query?
2.Can we pass any parameters to data source to filter the data before retrival from data source?

For the first issue,schedule refresh is not required. As it’s DirectQuery mode, datasets are refreshed approximately each hour or when interaction with the data occurs. You can manually adjust the refresh frequency in the Scheduled cache refresh option in the Power BI service. For the second issue, you can define variables on SAP HANA side, then you can enter desired values for these variables on Power BI side to filter data. Also you can enable the “Treat SAP HANA as a relational source” option in Power BI desktop, write the filter query when connecting to SAP HANA. For the third issue, the performance is just related to your data source based on the Direct query mode.
