I am getting the above error when I am publishing the report that is developed using Direct Query Option. I am able to publish the report with the import option. But I need to use Direct Query option.

I have connected to the on-premises-data gateway successfully, I have the latest version of the Oracle database and Power BI desktop. I am not sure why Direct Query is not working after publishing my report to service. Please help me with this.

Hi @Anonymous ,

The use of DirectQuery with Oracle in Power BI requires to use the ODP.NET driver from Oracle.

  1. Get the ODAC driver from this link: https://www.oracle.com/database/technologies/odac-downloads.html
  2. Take the version with the setup included (not the XCopy)
  3. The one below is the latest known starting 2020:Annotation 2020-03-04 172919.png
  4. Launch the setup and after few screens ensure the ODP.NET driver is selected:

5 At the next screen ensure the ODP.NET driver is setup machine wide (this is very important):

6.Complete the setup, no restart of Windows is required, but a restart of the PBI Desktop tool or of the OPDG service is needed.

Hi  @Anonymous ,

Direct query should also show such screenshot, did you fail in configuring the data source in direct query mode,or is there not existing an option for you to choose in direct query mode? Can you show me such screenshot in direct query mode?

If you cant configure the data source, better choose a window authentication.

The above screenshot I shared  is for Direct query mode only. Even after choosing the datasource I am getting "Couldn't load the model schema associated with this report" error.
