Difference between Migrated Tabular Model and Data Model Created from Power BI?

Hi,

So we're in the process of switching from an on-prem power bi to power bi service. We're currently in the process of migrating the current tabular models that are acting as the data source for our dashboards.

We we're able to migrate using the following steps:

https://data-marc.com/2020/06/16/migrate-analysis-services-models-to-power-bi-using-tabular-editor/

So my question is I've also tried created a data model manually using power bi and I've found that even though the migrated tabular and the data model created in Power BI use the same exact native queries, the migrated model refreshes a lot faster.

Does anyone know the difference between the 2?

Thanks

Hi @id013 ,

Are you able to download the pbix file after the migration is complete?

Best Regards

Lucien

Hi,

No I am not. When I try it tells me that:

Can't export to Power BI Desktop format

We couldn't export to .pbix format.

Thanks
