Deployment Pipeline: Content deployed backwards cannot be updated

Hi all,

We are trying to get started with deployement pipelines and have run into an issue i don't see reported anywhere else.

So. we already have an in-use production workspace full of content, so we decided set up our pipeline starting with that workspace assigned to the Production stage and then use "Deploy to Previous Stage" to back-populate content to new Test and Dev stage workspaces.

After setting everything up and ensuring the content of all three workspaces matched, we found that we could not publish any updated versions of our content to the new Development or Test workspaces.

Publishing from Power BI Desktop resulted in an HTTP 409 error message:

409 error.png
Manually uploading a PBIX to the service (Get Data > Local File) resulted in a "Can't Publish File" error message:

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks,

Craig

@khregs  Do you ever find a solution to this? I'm in the exact same boat and haven't been able to locate an answer to this.

Hi @mpicca13,

No, we didn't find a solution for this issue yet. I opened a support ticket with MS a few weeks ago and they are working on resolving it, but no ETA yet. Will post back to this thread when I have some news.

Thanks,

Craig

@khregs  I'll be eagerly waiting, thank you!

@khregs can you please share the ticket number/ ID,

so we can follow up on this.

@Nimrod_Shalit: The ticket number is 120092124008929.

Thanks!

The 2nd error you posted suggests you have the Dev WS synced with OneDrive. is that accurate?

if so, then you should try through saving the new PBIX in the relevant OneDrive, so it will sync automatically with the dev WS.

Thanks for the reply, @Nimrod_Shalit.

No, we are not using OneDrive for syncing report files at all. Not sure why the error message alludes to that. This was the result of someone attempting to upload a pbix into the workspace from their local machine using the New > Upload a File > Local File feature.

Please open a support ticket.
