Dataset refreshed but data not changing

Hi All,

I have a report that's being refreshed on my personal gateway on Power BI Service. For a specific visualization, which is connected to Azure SQL DB, the refresh does go through but the data point would not update. But if I refresh this table manually within my .pbix I could see data changing.

Any idea why the data is not captured even though dataset was refreshed through gateway?

Thanks!

Hi @zilaif ,

If your report dataset doesn't contain any on premise data source, that is to say the dataset only has the cloud data source Azure SQL DB,  then it needn't to use the gateway. Power BI refresh will synchronizes datasets and reports with their source files.

If your dataset contains not only the cloud data source but also the on premise data source, then recommend you use on premise data gateway(Enterprise mode),  and then you can configure schedule refresh. See more : On-premises data gateway , Add a data sourceConfigure scheduled refresh .  Note that you also need to select "Allow user's cloud data sources to refresh through this gateway cluster" option Under Gateway Cluster Settings. See: Merge or append on-premises and cloud data sources.

In addition, you may go to  Azure portal, go to the Azure SQL database for which you're configuring refresh. At the top of the Overview blade, select Set server firewall. On the Firewall settings blade, make sure that Allow access to Azure services is set to ON. See more: Troubleshooting scheduled refresh for Azure SQL Databases in Power BI.

Best Regards,

Amy

@zilaif - Check you refresh logs to see if they are failing.

need more information -  Is this really import mode?  If so, why?  Did you make structural changes? Did you republish if yes?  Did you press "Reset to defaults"  on the service?
