We have installed and configured a Linkedin template app recently. when I pressed "Refresh now" on the dataset. I got "Preparing for refreshing" first and then nothing (no running circle, no error message...). Later on, I tried "schedule refresh" and it's working fine.
Still need to "Refresh now" for ad-hoc request from time to time. Any idea welcome!
I have searched and checked similar posts in this forum but none of them mentioned a solid solution.

You could check based on the following contents.
1. Make sure you are on the latest version of the gateway.
2. Check the gateway log files to see if there is an error message, or message that states you manually refreshed. Log files can be found following the links here under "Tools for Troubleshooting" near the bottom of the article.

As it's a template app, there is no Gateway involved.
Another dataset which is connecting via Gateway is working well on "Refresh now"
