Dataflow connecting to a xlsm file on Sharepoint folder

Hi All,

I am trying to connect to an .xlsm file hosted on a sharepoint folder from a dataflow, using the SharePoint Folder connector. unfortunately, when the query is trying to combine the (unique) file, it doesn't recognise the .xlsm format (whereas in PBI Destkop I managed to connect to such .xlms files...). Do you think it's linked to the SharePoint Folder connector, to dataflow, have you faced similar issue in Dataflow?... and do you see any other option than converting my file to .xlsx?

Thx!!!

Ben

I've been struggling for awhile on this too!  I just tried a workaround and it seems to be working: create an .xlsx file to use for the transform file, then filter out the rows from the .xlsx file.

Here is what I did:

  1. Open target file, Save As with a .xlsx extension
  2. Go to your data flow, and point to a target Sharepoint folder
  3. Filter to only see your .xlsx template file and your .xslm files with the data
  4. Sort the list so that the template file is on top
  5. Transform!
  6. Filter out all rows with the template, using Source.Name column

Let me know if it works!

Thanks alot Will,
I have been struggling myself for a while, considering that from Desktop perspective this multiple .xlsm files combination worked instantly.
Actually your trick works great for working around this Dataflow bug ! Cheers !!!

Hi Ben,

Did you solve this problem? I am trying to combine .xlsm files from a sharepoint folder too and I have the same problem.

Thanks,

Germán
