Database choice for DirectQeury

What do you think is the best choice for database type to use as data warehouse for number of PowerBI reports using DirectQuery?

At the moment I am using MSSQL Azure Database, but have heard that Snowflake outperforms it. I am not limited to any type of instance. It can be Amazon services like Redshift as well. What I am looking for is: performance and scalability. DataFlows will be scheduled using Amazon compute services - so dataflow is not a concern.

Could you give me some advice or point me to some resources on that subject?

Hi @Anonymous ,

It seems difficult to have an answer.😅

If the goal is to improve reporting performance in DirectQeury mode, the data source is only one aspect.

Datamarts is also a feature to watch.
