Data that refreshes in a dataset will not refresh in dataflow

I use the same data in a dataset and a dataflow. Both refresh(at different times) to on-premise gateways (personal and enterprise respectively). The dataset refreshes consistently in about six minutes. Successful refresh of the same data in the dataflow is inconsistent at best and takes from nine to twenty three minutes to refresh. The unsuccessful refreshes show the problem is always one of two tables or both with the message Error: AzureBlobs failed to get the response: 'The request was aborted: The request was canceled with each time the duration being eleven minutes.

Shouldn't the refresh of a dataset and a dataflow of the same data be comparable? They are both on the same computer and both gateways are the latest available versions.

My goal is to move from individual dataset reports to a single dataflow for all of my reports since all of the data is from a single source (local access database) but this ongoing problem concerns me. Thanks for any insight that you might provide.
