Data is not populated in PowerBI Online (The model cannot be loaded...). But Local is fine.

I have a database (AzureSQL) which is deployed in Azure in Brazil South region.

During my analysis in PowerBI Desktop, the data are OK and I'm able to connect and run some visual on that.

When I try to publish, at the beginning no errors were presented. But, once I access the report, I got a generic error:

The model cannot be loaded The model schema associated with this report cannot be loaded. Make sure you have a connection to the server and try again. Try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.

Actions I did:

Deleted the report.

Recreated.

Created a new version of report with only a visual.

Cleared the permissions in datasource.

Change the permissions (None, Public and Organization)

All actions failed.

In Azure it is permitted to that server use Azure Services.

In the PowerBI Dataset, the connection is OK. I don't need Gateway because I use the AzureSQL.

Any clues?

Despite the user and password were correct, the option of OAuth2 was checked, and instead to use the database credential, I think the service tried only to use the OAuth2.

After unchecking that option it worked!

Hi , @Anonymous

Do you have other data source in your report or apply any RLS in your datasource?

It is recommended  to update your credentials  again  on power bi service  dataset side first.

The following tips also need attention  .

1.Make sure that the report you created in the PBI desktop points to the correct server

2.Make sure the credentials on power bi service side are right

I tried several times, with no success.

1. Checked the credentials at PBI Desktop. It is working, I got data updated, no errors or warnings.

2. Deleted the workspace in PBI Online. Created from scratch.

3. Uploaded the dashboard and dataset.

4. Even the data is not showing any errors, I replace the credentials (with no errors), and I got the same error from the beginning:

Also tried to upload a small table in PBI: same error.

It seems to be an issue with AzureSQL in Brazil region. Could you confirm if there is a limitation on that?

The cluster URI must be in the same region of AzureSQL?
In my case the cluster is: https://wabi-europe-north-b-redirect.analysis.windows.net/
