Data gateway post-fixing .domain.local to server address in data source

I've published a report that connects to Analysis Services, but I can't get it to connect to the data gateway for refresh.

Under Gateway connection for the dataset, it shows the correct server and database but only gives me the option to add it to the gateway. When I add this source to the gateway, it connects to the DB without error, but changes the server address from "[server_name]" to "[server_name].[domain_name].local" and the dataset still doesn't see this as the same datasource.

Is there a reason that the gateway is changing the server address to include the [domain_name].local post-fix and how would I resolve this issue so I can setup my dataset for refresh?

Hi, @willclein ;

If you  use Analysis Services live connections, your local Active Directory accounts must match Azure AD. The UPN must match between the accounts.

You can also map your Power BI sign-in name with a local directory UPN.

To get to the UPN mapping screen, follow these steps.

  1. Go to the gear icon, and select Manage Gateways.

  2. Expand the gateway that contains the Analysis Services data source. Or, if you haven't created the Analysis Services data source, you can do that at this point.

  3. Select the data source, and then select the Users tab.

  4. Select Map user names.

Or can you share more details about refresh fail? Or screenshot?
