Data gateway (personnal mode) not detected

Hello,

For a project I have to use a personnal data gateway with a specific account.

This gateway perfectly works with my account but doesn't works with the account that I need to use.

When I setup the gateway with the account needed exactly like I do with my account nothing appear in the Power BI interface.

If someone have any ideas.

Thanks,

Luis

Hi @Anonymous

Maybe don't take the gateway and use other ways to refresh ? I found some ways to refresh dataset using python, hope it will help you.

Hi @Anonymous

The on-premises data gateway (personal mode) can run only as an application .  It just work for the account that you installed with . If you want to add other users in the gateway , I suggest you to install standard gateway . It supports more data sources and data connection modes, and you can also share it with multiple users . You can see the different between these two gateways .

For more information about the gateway , you can check the following official website documents .

Hi @v-yetao1-msft,

Thank you for your reply

The problem is that I need refresh data from a Python data source that is not supported by the standard gateway...

Thanks,

Luis

Looks like gateway management has been updated recently.
Try setting--> manage gateways --> select the gateway then "Manage Users" - ensure both your ID and the ID for the account you are using are listed.

Thank you for your reply !

Looks like I have only one account listed.

But I don't want my project linked with my personnal account.

So the gateway is well detected but not for refreshing my dataset (the "Gateway connection" does not appear)

Luis,

okay so the gateway was set up using an svc account credential.
If this is a master account and you have the username & Password,  log into Power BI using the credentials, go to manage gateways and see if you can add your personal credentails as an admin or user to the gateway.

From the look of things, even the tenent admin cannot add additional users to a Personal gateway.

If the SVC account is a Service Principle then it may be possible to add you using the Power Bi Gateway Powershell Module Add-DataGatewayClusterUser
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/datagateway/add-datagatewayclusteruser?view=datag...

The svc account is just for the name, the rest is exactly the same as my personnal account.

I can't add my personnal credential with "Manage Users".

And the Add-DataGatewayClusterUser is not found as a command.

Thanks,
