Data Gateway Configuration for Python

Hello All,

I am using Python as a Data Source to connect to my data sources. This is becuase there is a need to merge and join data together. (Sources include Azure SQL Database, and SQL Server database). Running transformation python scripts will not work for this problem as the "Formula.Firewall", prevents python scripts from interacting with multiple types of data sources.

Error:

"Formula.Firewall: Query 'Table1' (step 'Run Python script') references other queries or steps, so it may not directly access a data source. Please rebuild this data combination")

My question is how do I go to deploy this to production and configure the report to schedule refresh through the Data Gateway?

It is not supported to implement schedule refresh via on premise Data Gateway (Enterprise Gateway) for Python in Power BI Service currently .There is an idea about this issue, please vote it up, https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/37724956-provide-enterprise-gatew... , to improve the Power BI.

It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

We also submitted this feedback to the product group internally, so that the product group can pay attention to this problem and speed up the issue repairing.

While you can implement schedule refresh via Personal Gateway for Python in Power BI Service. The additional steps are the following:

- Install the Personal Gateway - you need a Personal Gateway installed on the machine where the file is located, and where Python is installed.

- Enable scheduled refresh for the dataset – Need to enable scheduled refresh for the dataset with Python scripts

I am using Python to connect data and followed the official documentation and unable to refresh my data in power bi space using a personal mode gateway

below the snapshot of the error when trying to edit the credentials of python in the server.

For info: the desktop app is wrking very fine, the issue is happening when the report is published
