Data Flows - Not able to create parameters

In Data Flows, i am trying to create some queries that need parameters. The parameters do not appear as parameters, but keep getting converted to tables.

My parameters and queroes work in PBIX in M, but not it the data flows.

Hi @Anonymous ,

A simple hack we use is to put our parameters into a SharePoint excel/csv. Then load and filter as necessary.

Hi there

You can do this by going into the Advanced Editor in your PBIX, then copy the code.

Then go into the dataflow, click on Blank Query.
Then click on Advanced Options and paste the details in there.

Make sure to remove the tick for "Enable Data Load" otherwise it will ask for a Power BI Premium license.

Hi @GilbertQ

What does mean "create a Data Flows if it is not updatable"?

So How can we use these Data Flows, please ?

Thank you for your reply

Hi there

What I mean was that the parameters are not updatable, but the dataflow will update with the related data.

What you suggested is what I did...

It does not work with APIs that work in PBIX.

DataFlows has a lot of issues as of yet since they have not ported over all the functionality from PBI Desktop Query Editor.

There are issues with API protocols in both PBIS and Data Flows. I have lots of queries that use APIs (Web.Content) that do not work in PBIS or Data Flows for various reasons.

Hi there

yes in some instances everything is not 100% the same as Power BI Desktop. I do know that the team is working very hard to get it 100% the same as Power BI Desktop
