Dashboard Filters

I created a report in PBI desktop with 5 tabs. Each tab has a few slicers and many visuals. I have published to the Power BI portal and am creating a dashboard with the visuals from the various tabs.  My question is how do I apply or add a filter to the dashboard so that the visuals respond to the specified date range or location selection (Slicer)? if that's not possible, how do I know what date is pulled into the visual on the dashboard? Since it's a snippet from the report that was tied to a slicer, it doesn't allow me to see what date the data is sliced on and would not dynamically update data when the refresh schedule is applied.

Right, the dashboard tile retains the filters at the time it was pinned but no real way to show that. I suggest your perhaps pin a live report page?

Question, so essentially a pinned visual should be a visual that isn't tied to a slicer on the page? I would like to have the dashboard refresh daily with current data and display as the users logs in. How else do you build a dashboard when the visuals were built off a slicer?

@vwiles84

As we dont have option for the slicer visuals to add to Dashboards.

So to avoid that, please use the option "Pin Live Page" to add it in Dashboard.

Hi, @vwiles84

It is unsupported to apply dashboard filters in Power BI Service currently. As a workaround, you may try to use 'cross-report drillthrough' in Power BI, with which you can contextually jump from one report to another report in the same Power BI service workspace or app. You can use cross-report drillthrough to connect two or more reports that have related content, and to pass filter context along with the cross-report connection.

For further information, please refer the official document .

Best Regards

Allan

I'm pretty sure slicers are not available on dashboards.
