Create PowerBI Datamart from Azure Analysis Service

I am trying to create PowerBI Datamart from Azure Analyis service. There is a datamodel available in the Azure Analysis Service and I can connect using URL and Database Name. The datamodel has ~100 tables present in it and relationship also setup. So my question is, if I want to create a PowerBI datamart from the Azure Analyis service datamode, I need to do the Get Data option of PowerBI datamart and connect to Azure Analyis service, select table, select fields 100 time for getting all the tables of Azure Analyis service datamode into my PowerBI datamart? Is there any import function available where I can import all the tables in a single time?

Hey @shihabkb ,

unfortunately, there is no simple answer to your question and there is no tooling out there I'm aware of that will help in automating your endeavor.

The short answer is: no, there is help or tooling.

I wonder why you want to rebuild your Azure Analysis Services model(s) with Power BI's datamart feature.

Datamarts are a relational representation of data, whereas AAS is a columnar in-memory analytical data store.

For this reason I recommend to using  the AAS to Power BI dataset migration wizard: Migrate Azure Analysis Services to Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

No matter, if you want to create a datamart, I recommend that you connect the dataflows to the underlying data source(s) of the AAS tables, then in a second step recreate your calculated columns and measures, Unfortunately, 3rd party tools like ALM Toolkit(Home Page - ALM Toolkit (alm-toolkit.com))  or Tabular Editor do not work with dataset that are derived from datamarts.

Please keep in mind that the dataset is a "direct query" dataset based on a relational schema (the datamart). For this reason, it is very likely that some measures will not perform as may expect.
