Connection to an Excel file in SharePoint Online: What happens when I change my AD password?

Hi

I use an Excel file in a SharePoint Online Document Library as a data source in my pbix file. I uploaded the report to the service and configured the data source credentials (OAouth2):

I can setup a setup a scheduled refresh, everything works fine.

My question: What happens when I have to change my AD password in the future? Will I need to reenter the credentials in the Power BI Service? If so, is there a way to get informed that I have to change the pw? If I have multiple Excel files as data sources, will I need to reenter the credentials for each connection?

Thanks a lot in advance for your answers

JJ

#1, Refresh will failed due to invalid data credentials.
#2, Yes, you need to update your credentials on power bi service side.
#3, You can consider to turn on 'send email if refresh failed' option.

Configure scheduled refresh

#4, You need to update credentials on each files if you are get data from specific files.

yes you do.  Which is why you want to put it in another location so you don't have to use your account to get to it, like a service account that is available all the time with a non-expiring password.
