Hello,
I have encountered a problem. My organisation´s IT manager says he is unable to enable a remote connection between PowerBI and an SQL database.
The reason is, aparently, that PowerBI is running on an Azure environment, while the database is running on its own dedicated server. Is this a real issue? And if it is, is there a fix in place?

Do you mean the Power BI service to get data from SQL server database?
If it is, you can download and install on-premises data gateway on a machine which can communicate with SQL Server. Then go to Manage Gateways on Power BI service, to create a SQL data source points to this SQL server, go to dataset settings, configure the dataset uses this gateway. For more information, see:
