Confused about mixing Premium and Pro license types

Hi all,

I'm hoping to get some claririfcation with the Power BI service licencing model, which I've found throughly confusing.

If we purchase a few 'Premium Per User' licenses for power users to publish reports and datasets, and also purchase a larger amount of 'Pro Per User' licenses for end-users to consume those reports and datasets - will this pose any issues?

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous

Yes, it will probably cause some problems. You see, PPU licences can mark a Workspace as a PPU workspace, then publish Reports etc. there. However, only people with PPU licences can access that PPU workspace, so your Pro users will be left out.

I've put more detail on my blog What Is Premium Per User? | Power BI Licences | Burningsuit

Hope this helps

Hi @Anonymous

The answer is no difference in consuming the dataset in a workspace

The PPU license have some usable features more than a Pro License like AI, Paginated reports...
