Certified Datasets between Workspaces

Not sure if I'm just missing something or not. I have a dataset that I have now marked as 'Certified' in Workspace 'A'. I've created a new app workspace 'B'. I am trying to now create a report in Power BI Desktop that I would publish to Workspace 'B' using the dataset from Workspace 'A'. Problem is I can't figure out how to use the Dataset from Workspace 'A' in a report for Workspace 'B'. When I click the 'Published Datasets' link on Get Data in Workspace 'B', by dataset does not show. Any thoughts?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Actually, if you get data with Power BI Dataset in Power BI Desktop, you only could publish the report to the original app workspace.

So for your scenario, if you get data from the dataset in app workspaceA via Power BI Dataset connector in power bi desktop and create the report, you cannot publish the report to the app workspace B in power bi service, you only could publish it to app workspace A.

To achieve your goal, we need to connect the data source 'Certified' in power bi desktop and create the report again then publish it to app workspace B.

The same dataset is independent of each other in different app workspaces in Power BI Service.

I did finally get this to work with some assistance from your note - what wasn't made very clear until I spent the day scouring al of the documentation around this feature was that both workspaces needs to be the upgraded workspace expierence for this to work. Disappointing that there is still no way to upgrade existing workspaces.
