Cannot surface Report connecting to Power BI Dataset in published app.

I used a Power BI dataset as my datasource from another report I have access to and can publish and view everything fine in the workspace.  However, when I try to publish the app, I cannot toggle to enable the report and it gives me the message "The item cannot be included in the app".

Hi @MEEnergy

Please check if you hit below limitations mentioned here

  • You can create reports in app workspaces that are based on datasets in a different workspace. However, you can't create an app for a workspace that contains those datasets.
  • If you want to add a report based on a shared dataset to an app, you have to be a member of the dataset workspace. This is a known issue.

Okay thanks.  Since its a known issue, are they treating this as one that they are working on fixing?  Or are they treating it as a limitation?
