Can't schedule a refresh for PBI online report where the data source is a SharePoint file

Hello everybody,

I have a PBI report for which the data source is a SharePoint excel file.

I have administrator rights of the SharePoint group and I am the admin of the workspace where I publish my report. When I try to refresh the report I get authentication errors as per the attached screenshots.

When I use the same credentials on PBI desktop the refresh is working.

 Can someone please help.

Hi @NoviceBloke12 ,

According to your screenshot, I wonder whether you get data from SharePoint folder in Power BI Desktop, as it only support enter the root URL like this.

As file on SharePoint don’t need a gateway for a dataset, and under the Data source credentials, it directly shows SharePoint, when select the Edit credentials, there are only Anonymous and OAuth2 authentication method.

In this way, it will work fine, please let me know if there're other problems.

You will have to select authentication mode as OAuth2 and Oragnizational level privacy level and try then it should work.

Also double check the url format of sharepoint, at times I have seen it causing issues while configuring on gateway

Try with different URL excluding "/x/r"

Sometimes this can cause errors.

Please select Authentication Method as Oauth2
Privacy Level = Organizational

Then Click on sign in, use same credentials you use in SharePoint.
