Can a custom visualization invoke custom web services?

I want to create a custom visualisation that will include functionality to fill in some data and then submit this to an external web service. Is that possible?

Hi Ivan_wilson,

Can you provide more information, your question seems to be less descriptive.

Yes, In Power BI you can create Custom Visualization (using d3.js).

Yes, It allows you to fill some data. (By the way what is data, how do you extract them.) You may have to use the built-in Query options available in Power BI Desktop to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) the data.

Yes, as far as I'm aware Power BI API's allows you to publish to an external web service. However I have'nt tried it yet and hence can't be 100% sure.

Thanks for your reply Vasim07.

The scenario is that we want people to comment on rows within a grid. The web service would be used to write the comments back to the SQL data source.

@ivan_wilson that would be super-usful! Would you mind sharing that once finished?

Thanks a ton,
