I know that pro users have to create an app out of reports in premium workspace and publish to free users. So that free users can install app and view the reports/dashboards through app.
Has anything changed in new version related to free users capability to view Premium workspace content directly instead of apps? I like to know if free users can open dashbaords/reports on the workspace itself.
Appreciate your comments on this.

Access to workspaces directly is a Pro feature, so no nothing has changed. Apps are the portal to achieve the same ends anyway. Is there something specific about Apps that you can't do that you feel the free users could do in the workspace?
There is a tenant level option called "Install Apps automatically". This allows you to remove the extra steps for the users.
Yes there are extra steps for the developers, but with that is the ability to have control around when report changes are released to users, which is quick beneficial.

Thanks Ross for your answer. It takes few extra steps to publish apps and then few steps for free users to install the apps. We wanted to avoid that for free users in our org.
