I had different result at filled map between Power BI Desktop and Power BI service. Although filled map gas been shown correctlly in desktop app, Power BI service showed me different result after publish to web from desktop app. What is the cause of this?
I want to fill map by region according to count. So we created the data as csv like "country, region" and set this field to Location in filled map. In desktop app, we can see map correctly but filled area is different in WEB.
For example, "South Korea" data is shown in Lebanon.
Hi @v-kkf-msft
Thank you for your reply.
Although I replied here and I received e-mail that I got badge for first reply, now my reply is deleted😠 I wrote again below. I'm so sorry for late reply.
Actually I created the table like below. It include "Country,Region", "Country", "Region" and "Count" column. And I set "Country,Region" column to "Location" and set "Count" to "Hint". I also craeted table with "Country" and "Count" column so that I can filter the filled map by country.
As a result, I got correct result in Power BI desktop but I cannot get correct result in WEB after publish.
For example, I attached screenshot when I select "South Korea" in table.
Thank you in advance,
Shiro

Hi @Shiro ,
The sample data works normally on my PowerBIService.
Set the data categories of the Country column and Region column to "Country" and "State or Province" respectively. Then try to use these two columns as the location of the map to see if it works.
If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information or the expected result you expect. Let me know immediately, looking forward to your reply.
Best Regards,
Winniz

Hi @v-kkf-msft ,
Thank you for your reply.
I tried your suggestion that set Country and Region column. The result was improved but I still have problems.
I attached screenshot in desktop and service with the pbix file you attached.
After publishing, filled area is little bit different between desktop and service.

Hi @Shiro ,
Please try the following to see if it works.

2. Change the data category of 'Country,Region' column to 'Place'.
3. Clear browser cache and republish report.

HI @v-kkf-msft ,
Thank you for your reply. I followed the steps that you suggested. But I got same result.
The result I expect is very simple. I want to get the result same as Power BI desktop in Power BI service. Despite I can get correct result in Power BI desktop, I cannnot get same result in service after publishing. Any error doesn't happen. I just get different filled map in Power BI desktop and service.
Did you get same result in service using my data?
Thanks,
Shiro
Hi @Shiro ,
I use the sample data and get the correct result. Is your data the "Country"?
You can try to click “Ctrl”+”Delete” to clear the cache of the browser and refresh the report page again. Or you can try other browsers to see if it works.
If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information or the expected result you expect. Let me know immediately, looking forward to your reply.
Best Regards,
Winniz
