Hey all -
I'm looking at creative ways of connecting to datasets/reports built by my coworkers. The dataset has been shared with me. I'm trying to think, would it be wise for me to use Microsoft Graph API to get the data table I need from a PBI dataset that was shared with me?
If I did this, would there still be a live connection between my report and the original dataset I'm bringing in?

Hi @Anonymous ,
If you want to get information about the users and groups in your organization, you can use the Microsoft Graph API.
Easily connecting between Power Query / Power BI and Microsoft Graph
But I could not find a valid Microsoft Graph API to get data from tables of the published dataset. I think the best way is to use the Power BI datasets connector in the Desktop.
If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information or the expected result you expect. Let me know immediately, looking forward to your reply.

HI @Anonymous ,
I don't know about "wise" or not as it is based on your ability, permissions, desire and knowledge of API's and the Graph API. Here are two sites with some great information on using the API - How to get Microsoft Graph API Data on Microsoft Power BI (mydock365.com) and Connecting Power BI to Microsoft Graph | techpeanuts (tech-peanuts.com)
I would think about what your true needs are. If you have the dataset why would you need an API anyway?
