Bind to Gateway for .rdl datasource using API

I know about the PowerBI API call to bind a dataset to a On-Premise gateway but I need to do the same for a datasource in an .rdl report - is there an API call for this?

After importing rdl files gateway connection will be lost and need to update manually always. Is there any solution to this?

You don't bind gateway connections to reports (paginated or not) or datasets, you bind them to data sources.

Well, yes and no, the API call for .pbix is a dataset call to bind to a gateway in a group and then there is an auto-detect on the connect string to bind a particular datasource. The question is really is there an API to do the same for .rdl.
