Best location for Azure Server

Hi there

I'm working with some fairly large Power BI files (just under 1GB) and the time to publish them from my local desktop into app.powerbi.com is not insignificant. To speed that up I thought I'd fire up an Azure server and use Power BI Desktop there to do my development. Presumably then when I upload to app.powerbi.com it will be Azure to Azure and the speed will be awesome!

When creating an Azure server you can choose the region to create it in so my question is this:

What Azure region should I choose for maximum bandwidth to app.powerbi.com?

Thanks

Hi @Mist

What I would do is have a look where your Power BI Tenant is by clicking on the ? as shown below.

And then it will show you where your data is stored. As shown below mine is in Australia SouthEastimage.png

I would then create an Azure VM in Australia South East.

This will ensure that it is as close as possible.

When I have used Azure VM's the bandwidth is SUPER fast.
