Hello dears!.
I would like you to support me with an inconvenience, when programming the automatic update of a dashboard which connects to a MYSQL database this shows the following error.
Failed to update data source credentials: MySQL: Cannot find a database provider with the name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient' invariable. This error may have been due to the lack of necessary vendor-specific client software on this computer. To download this vendor's client software, visit the following site and choose the 64-bit (x64) version of at least 'MySQL Connector / Net': https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId= 278885Show details
At first I thought that only the installation of the happy connector was missing, however I already installed it on my machine, I installed it on the machine where the gateway is located. Update the gateway to its latest version and that error still appears when I try to place credentials, in the option credentials of data sources. 🙁
It is worth mentioning that when I make the dashboard in the PowerBi Desktop tool the connection and the information is carried out correctly. It is only the happy automatic update that fails.
Greetings.

Hi @fmendoza ,
If this connector works well on the desktop side, I think ti should more relate to compatibly between the gateway and MySQL drever client versions.
Have you tested to use other connectors to get data from MySQL? (e.g. ODBC) They are more stable and compatible with most of the gateway client versions.
In addition, you can also open a support ticket to get further support from power bi team.

Hi @fmendoza,
What version of connector did you use? Have you used the same bit of client and data source? (according to the error message, it seems like power bi can't recognize the Datasource due to different client bit/versions)
Please share more detail information to help us clarify your scenario.

I was previously using the personal mode version and I always had the same problem. As a possible solution, install the other version without having a result.
As an additional test, I made a dashboard with connection to another MYSQL base and the problem persisted. Make a dashboard with connection to a Postgresql database and this does not present any inconvenience.

Seems similar to this error posted 4hrs ago. Consider opening a ticket to see if it is the service having an issue with MySQL, unless your error is very different. Hard to tell exactly with the info given in both of these posts.
