Hi, I have my reports in Power BI Desktop and Power BI services with the data source from a third-party, and I connected them as instructed. Can I set up an automatic data source refresh each time I open the report on both platforms?

The option you are looking for is available neither in PBI Service nor Desktop.
You can set up a scheduled refresh in service by configuring the gateways with the data sources. ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/refresh-data)
Power BI Desktop only allows manual refresh. Auto-refresh in the desktop is not possible, but there is an idea for it:
