Assigned an AD User Group to App workspace as Admin and then couldnt see the App Workspace

Im checking how Azure AD Groups work when you add them to Power BI

I created an App Workspace (I Was admin)

And I created an Azure AD group Called PowerBIAdmin

I then went into the App Workspace Access and assigned this AD Group Admin Role.

I removed myself as admin because Im in the PowerBIAdmin Azure AD Group

However when I went back the next day I couldnt see the App Workspace. I had to go into Admin to add myself as Admin and it appeared again.

The question is, why did it disappear for me when i only had the Azure AD Group PowerBIAdmin assigned (With me in the group) ?

Hi @DebbieE,
this actually should work, because that's how it is designed, and we use it all the time also.
Can you show us some screenshots maybe of the workspace and the members of the AAD-group? What kind of AAD-group is it?

PowerBIAdminRole.JPG

This is my Security group in Azure

MemberNotOwner.JPGAnd here I am within the Group. Ahh. I may have just spotted it. I own the Admin group but Im not actually a member.

OK Ive gone into Azure and added myself as a member and refreshed (And deleted myself as Admin so im just in the AD group.

All sorted. The issue was I was an owner of the group and not a member.

Thank you (for helping me think through it)

Ah that's correct. You have to be a member of the group for the role to take effect (in addition you can also be the owner, but that doesn't give you access to the workspace).
Glad it is solved now!
