Hi all
I've been following the announcements around Power BI Premium over the last few days, and in theory it looks like a great step forward. However, I'm concerned about the implications for Power BI Embedded which I currently use with a couple of small clients.
According to this article the migration itself should be fairly painless, but the costs of moving to Premium will be catastrophic. For one client, the monthly minimum cost for Premium will be over 100 times what is currently being paid for Embedded, effectively ruling it out. Whilst I hope that smaller options for a node will be introduced, I'm skeptical that the price will be reduced enough to stop smaller clients moving to custom web reporting options.
Does anyone else share my concerns, or am I in a tiny minority here? I'm specifically asking about people who use small-scale Embedded applications and can't for security or organisational reasons use publish to web, or assign Pro licences.
Cheers,
Duncan

As a business owner buying into, contributing to and selling Power BI to customers as a small BI Specialist company we're VERY diappointed with the recent changes wrt embedding Power BI..!!
Developing a Power BI analytics capability with the ability for a small customer to embed this ability into their web-app and "pay as you use" based on tokens was what we "sold" to our SME customers.
Even with the reduced Power BI Premium entry level most of our customers is sitting dry and our image is seriously damaged having "sold" what we thought to be the differentiator between Power BI and other competitors in market!!
Seriously hoping and trusting the Power BI team will re assess what they have done! Otherwise we will have to manage damage and change our staratagy away from Power BI!

Thanks for your reply @Seth_C_Bauer, I hadn't found that thread when searching earlier.
It'll be intesersting to see what is meant by "further pricing flexibility". I don't suppose you have any idea of when this might be announced? As an ISV, we need to be able to give clients some idea of ongoing costs, so at the moment we simply can't offer Power BI as a solution for external users until we know the costs involved.
I hope this gets resolved soon.
Duncan
@DuncanP I would imagine we will see something soon, as embedded is a hot topic and not having this information puts us all in that uncomfortable state.
