Alerts Triggering when data not refreshed

Hi All,

Please can you help? 

We have built alerts in the online service  from a reporting dashboard built from a direct query to SSAS Tabular cube in which the data refreshes once a day. We are getting multiple sends of the alerts prior to the data cube finishing it's refresh. The alerts then re-trigger once the data has actually refreshed. 

We have set the cache refresh to an hour, but on occasion it seems the alerts are firing before the cube data has refreshed. This is creating noise around the alerts that we need to see. We have looked at lots of things to try and stop this happening but are out of options now - so frustrating! 

Any ideas? Please let me know if you need more details?

Hi there,

This would be due to the fact that you have configured the cache refresh to be hourly.

What happens is each hour a query is sent to your SSAS Server, this then updates the cache, when then updates the Dashboard tiles.

Because you have got an alert on the dashboard tile, it gets updated from the cache refresh. And this in turn fires off the alert.
