Advantages of using App

Hi All,

We have been creating dashboards and sharing with the end users the same, what advantages do we have when creating Apps on top of these dashboards? Is there some good documentation that cleasrly states as to when we need Apps and when we do not. Pros and cons.

Thanks

Hey @Anonymous ,

you can also change that afterwards.

Go to your workspace and on the top right corner click "Update App":

In the next window go to the "Navigation" tab and turn on the "New navigation builder".

Down in the navigation you can add elements with the "+ New" button and down remove elements or make them invisible:

Hey @Anonymous ,

there are differences between an App and a Workspace.

To sum it up quickly with my words, an App is to consume a finished status of a workspace and provide it to a bigger audience. In this App you can decide what you want to include (which report, dashboard, etc.) and to whom you provide it.

A Workspace is to work in it. Either to develop a report to publish later to a bigger audience or if you want to work on a topic with a smaller group.

Thanks @selimovd when i created an app and published it by default it is publishing all the reports and dashboards in my workspace. It is not giving me an option to pick and choose.

By default, it does include all the reports in the workspace but you should be able to toggle them off and update the app if you choose to using the control in the workspace that looks like this:
