I know it sounds crazy but I've been asked if it's possible to assign various admin roles without being given the "Power BI Admin Role" to the person. The concern is that the PBI Admin Role gives one access to too much.
Can anyone point me to some documentation that explains all the Power BI roles that may help with various tasks.
The user would need to do things like:
Check to see what dashboards and reports have been published to the service.
Performance and state of the premium service would need to be monitored.
Assigning users to the premium service (i.e. making them a PBI user automatically).
Automatically rolling out apps to users (so they don't have to get the app)
Monitoring gateway usage
General debugging and fixing of reports and dashboard.
Based on my test, it is not possible to meet your requirement currently. You can come up a new idea about that and add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.
