Adding a picture/logo in a report

Hi all,

I have an issue adding a picture to a report in the Service in following use case:

I created a new report in Power BI Desktop. Here I placed a picture (company logo) just fine. In the Service the picture works just fine in this particular report. Now Key Users want to create their own reports based on my dataset, so they start of with a blank report. How is it possible to give them the chance to add the logo to that new report, which was created in the Service.

What i tried is to create a new table with one column "pictures", where i added an URL of an image stored locally and in SharePoint (tested both). I classified the column as "picture-url". Yet the picture did not load.

Does anybody know of a way to get a picture into a report created in the Service?

Regards

Dennis

You can only add images to the dashboard as tiles: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/service-dashboard-add-widget

If you really want to add images in reports, there is a workaround:

  1. Add any chart type
  2. Drag a column to the axis, make sure the chart is empty.
  3. Select the Plot Area
  4. Add Image

Not sure how locally would work. I would pick a public image URL and try with that. You might find a third party visual out there that will do images. You users could also use Desktop and use your Power BI dataset as a source there. Not sure why that widget isn't in the Service authoring experience, probably something to do with security/governance.
