Add data fields to Top N Filter Type in Reading View

Hi All,

I have a visual that embedded in custom app, I want my user able to personalize the visual themselves.
There is a field that would like to show/filter Top N items. I know that we can drag the field if in editing mode.

How to do this if in reading mode?

Hope you all can help. Thank you

Hi, @PowerBIOrg

Adding Fields to TopN filter is only supported in Edit view currently. There is a workaround you can try. You can create slicers in advance with fields that users may want to filter for users, then they can choose which slicer(field) using to filter.  You can refer DAX(Power BI)-Dynamic TopN made easy with What If Parameter.

Hi @v-cazheng-msft ,

Thank you for sharing above but it's not what I want to deliver. As mentioned before, I have a personalized visual. How can I drag fields to the Top N item when in View Mode?

Hope you can help, Thanks!

Hi, @PowerBIOrg

In Reading View, fields of the dataset will not display on the report page. You can drag the field into Top N item in Edit View and save it. Then the users can decide how many rows they want to get.

Hi @v-cazheng-msft ,

Thank you for your suggestion, but the fact is I don't know which field the user would like to filter. Different user will have different field that they want to filter.
