Activity Logs - Are changes to datasets from External Tools visible in the Activity Logs?

Dear Community,

I have been using ALM Toolkit & Tabular editor for doing metadata changes to my model.
For Compliance reasons we need to track any changes made to the model.

I am not able to make the meta-data changes visible in the activity logs, although there is an operation called:

Edited Power BI dataset from external app or EditDatasetFromExternalApplication

I have not seen above activity coming through or any related operation...

Kind regards

Jasper Baert

Hi, @JasperBaert

You can see that there may be a 48-hour delay. And you can use audit logs to monitor the operation on the powerbi service, if it is desktop, there is no way to monitor it.

Hi, @v-janeyg-msft

Thanks for the info. It is indeed true that EditDatasetFromExternalApplication is getting external tool events.
Although possible to get those activities en link them to the DatasetId. It is not possible FTM to get those activities from "Get Activity" Rest API's. Only AUDIT LOGS can get these ExternalApplication changes.

Kind Regards
Jasper Baert
